Theatre, & Amish Country Tour Package
One Day Only –or- One Night
Day One: Travel/Arrival day
Arrive anytime or by 4:30 p.m. Arrive in the afternoon at your accommodations.
6:30 p.m. Enjoy dinner at Jibby’s Restaurant in Sullivan.
8 p.m. Enjoy live equity theatre at The Little Theatre in nearby Sullivan.
Day Two (or our ACM Tours Standard One Day Itinerary):
7-8 a.m. If staying overnight, enjoy breakfast on your own at your accommodation.
9 - 10a.m. Arrive in Arthur/Amish Country. Pull your coach right up to our office where your group will have a chance to refresh. Shopping the Vine Street merchants will be a treat for your group as several of the stores have fine wood products from the local Amish craftsmen. They will be able to browse the antiques at Yoder’s Lamp Shop or at Dicks Pharmacy shakes are still hand dipped, and you can get a real cherry coke. There are also quilts, crafts, collectibles, a music store, and women and men’s fine clothing stores. An hour is never enough but we’ll start here.
10-11:00 a.m. Meet your Step-On Guide at The Wood Loft in downtown Arthur. The guide will begin your scenic tour through the countryside, and will explain the history of Arthur and the Amish to your group. The tour will include stops at Amish country shops along the tour. Learn interesting facts about the Amish life style and visit their cottage businesses.
12 p.m. Enjoy a home cooked meal at an Amish home. The traditional Amish Sunday meal includes; homemade bread, salad, fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, noodles or dressing, vegetable, pie, and a drink.
1 p.m. Take a tour of the Amish farm with your guide and Amish host and learn about Amish farm life.
1:30 p.m. Continue on the driving portion of the tour, going by some more Amish homes and cottage businesses.
3 p.m. Return to Arthur sometime after 3pm to drop off your guide, let your group stretch and shop some more or head off towards your home or your evening destination Downtown Arthur offers a wide variety of treasures such as local Amish handcrafted furniture, cheese, baked goods, crafts, Amish music store, fine men’s clothing, quilts, fine art, antiques and much more.
4-5:30 p.m. Depart for home when ready or if staying in the area, return to Arthur for dinner at Yoder’s Home Style Restaurant before returning to your accommodations.
Or on Wednesday, Friday or Saturday we can change things up a bit by scheduling an afternoon Theatre matinee.
1:30-4p.m. Take in a Broadway quality matinee performance at Central Illinois’ treasured equity theatre, the Little Theatre on the Square in nearby Sullivan.
The Little Theatre has a diverse schedule of performances including matinees and evening performances. ACM Tours can help you plan an itinerary to enjoy this widely proclaimed experience. We are happy to help with meal planning around your travel times and any Theatre time schedule.
A simple minimal theatre plan includes incorporating an Amish Farm Meal before heading over to the theatre. Add accommodations, an area tour guide or other activities as needed.
